Only in Brazil : Man wearing explosive vest and hands cuffed, held at at gun point on hotel balcony

Wearing a vest packed with explosives, this picture shows a terrified guest being held hostage in a luxury hotel.

The hostage can be seen with his hands handcuffed together, with the straps of the vest clearly visible.

Behind him, his alleged captor holds up a gun.

As reported by noticias.r7.com, witnesses said the victim and suspect suddenly appeared today on the 13th floor of the hotel.

Negotiators are currently attempting to help release the hostage and the hotel has been completely evacuated.

It is believed the suspect holds a grudge against the Brazilian government.

Reporters on the scene say he has been calling for the removal of Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff.

Freelance journalist Ben Tavener said: "Hostage/hostage-taker appearing intermittently on hotel balcony. Reports say he is calling for 'the fall of Dilma' among other things."
