APC leaders call for manifesto on South-South devt

Candidates vying for the All Progressive Party, APC presidential ticket are to present their manifesto to the South-South geo-political zone to win their support.This was part of the resolution reached at the end of the South-South zonal meeting of the party held last weekend in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The media officer to the South-South zonal chairman of the party, Mr. Bassey Ita told this newspaper that the party’s presidential aspirants are expected to present their plans for the comprehensive development of the area as well as address party members in the zone on how they intend to handle other contending national issues.

He said the party members unanimously agreed that all APC presidential aspirants must present their development plans for the zone to enjoy maximum support from South-South delegates.

Mr. Ita further disclosed that the zonal vice-chairman of the party, Mr. Hilliard Eta at the meeting expressed the party’s commitment ‘to provide a solid base for the development of the zone, hence its decision to invite those aspiring to lead the nation to present their plans and programmes for the zone.

He said APC leaders in the zone unanimously agreed to give all the party’s presidential aspirants a level playing ground.

“The party (APC) thought it wise to adopt the strategy of articulating its plans for the people of the south-south geo-political zone to dislodge our opponents who have nothing to offer.”

At the meeting were the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the Deputy National Chairman (south), Chief Segun Oni, Governors Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Adams Oshiomhole (Edo).

Also at the meeting was the former Military Administrator of Rivers State, Sam Ewang, member of the Party’s Board of Trustees (BOT), Chief Sam Sam Jaja, members of the state and National Assembly as well as other prominent APC members in the zone.
