Man Utd & Arsenal receive Premier League best pitch award

Manchester United and Arsenal will share the award for the best pitch in the Premier League in 2014/15 after their grounds staff were given the Grounds Team of the Season accolade, the Red Devils have announced on their official website.

The Old Trafford turf is rarely looking less than immaculate and the 20-time champions have been rewarded for that this season, along with perennial winners, Arsenal.

The Premier League don’t just award the players and managers at clubs, as they realise that an important part of the football in the top division is being able to play on top-quality surfaces and Man Utd and Arsenal were both able to do that this season.

Man Utd’s ground staff, led by Tony Sinclair, have done a stellar job with the pitch at Old Trafford this season considering the Red Devils have won 14 out of their 17 home games in the league, losing only twice and drawing the other.

Louis van Gaal’s side have definitely benefited from having a good surface to play on; they’ve beaten Liverpool, Manchester City, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and still have Arsenal to come in the remaining weeks of the campaign.
