Navy sailing club gets new boat

It was indeed a special day to remember by members of the Nigerian Navy Sailing club and water sports enthusiasts as the Superintendent of the Navy Dockyard, Rear Admiral Adetokunmbo Akintola commissioned new boat.

The event which took place at the Navy Sailing Club, Satellite Town, Lagos as part of activities marking the Islamic celebration of Eid-el-Fitri also witnessed athletes competing in the sailing, Kayaking and swimming competition.

Akintola who commands the Naval Dockyard Navl Limited explained to journalists that over the years, they have been assisting the club because it offers a lot of manpower in the area of water sports to the state and the nation.

“We have seen athletes from here qualifying for the Olympics and in that regard, we believe that we will give them enough assistance to produce more participants in the area of water sports.”

Akintola who is a long-standing member of the club said what he saw is a testimony that the club has grown extensively over the years.

On his part, Commodore of the Navy Sailing Club, Giwa Daramola said the club will ensure that Nigerians who love the sport are given the opportunity to actualize their dreams with the right platform provided.
